  • Rockstar Games Confirms They Suffered Another Data Breach

Though Rockstar doesn't seem too concerned.
The golden square logo for Rockstar Games.

Over the weekend, Rockstar Games confirmed that they suffered a data breach by an outside party.

The confirmation of the data breach was made in a Rockstar statement to Kotaku, saying that "a limited amount of non-material information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach." Rockstar's statement continues on to say, "this incident has no impact on our organization or our players."

The data breach first came to light on April 11 when a group claims to have accessed Rockstar's Snowflake servers via Anodot, a software as a service (SaaS) platform. I believe "Snowflake servers" here refers to cloud-based services that handle data analysis and the same Snowflake that also suffered a data breach in 2024.

On the 11th, the group issued a statement claiming that they will leak the data unless they are paid by April 14. The demand did not actually include a specific amount of money, which is actually pretty hilarious. According to The Cybersec Guru, the breach may include information such as "financial records for GTA Online and Red Dead Online, player spending and geographic data, marketing timelines, and contracts with Sony, Microsoft, voice actors, and music labels."

Rockstar Games, your Snowflake instances were compromised thanks to Anodot.com. Pay or leak. This is a final warning to reach out by 14 Apr 2026 before we leak, along with several annoying (digital) problems that’ll come your way. Make the right decision, don’t be the next headline.
This is at least the second major data breach suffered by Rockstar. In 2022, the company suffered an absolutely massive leak focused on Grand Theft Auto 6. At the time, Grand Theft Auto 6 was not even officially announced yet. That particular theft resulted in about $5 million damages and "thousands of hours of staff time." In 2023, the announcement trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 was leaked a day early.

Speaking of, Grand Theft Auto 6 is still currently expected to be released on November 19, 2026. We'll see if that actually happens or not.
