NACON has officially filed for insolvency (PDF link) after dealing with a huge mess with their majority shareholder, Bigben Interactive. The company was forced into filing for insolvency after Bigben Interactive failed to make a loan payment. As a result, Nacon has asked for the courts in France for permission to restructure their debt.
The court is expected to make its decision at a hearing scheduled for early March. Nacon says that they need to restructure their deb in order "to assess all possible solutions to ensure the sustainability of the Company's activity under the best possible conditions, protect employees, and preserve jobs, while renegotiating with its creditors in a calm and constructive framework."
If the court grants an approval to restructure their debt, Nacon's existing liabilities will be frozen for upwards of 18 months while they get things squared away.
Last week, Bigben Interactive failed to make a partial repayment of €43 million "due to the unexpected refusal of its banking pool to respond to the drawdown notice." Bigben Interactive currently holds 56.72% of Nacon's share capital and 65.79% of the voting rights of Nacon.
This filing for insolvency comes just days before Nacon will host their Nacon Connect showcase. This showcase is scheduled for March 4, 2026 at 2 PM ET. It is set to feature new looks at upcoming titles such as Edge of Memories, The Mound, Endurance Motorsport Series, and Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss. Nacon also has GreedFall: The Dying World coming out starting on March 10.
