Nvidia just officially released DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution to all Nvidia app users. DLSS 4.5 introduces an updated "2nd generation" transformer model for use with DLSS Super Resolution.
There was some initial confusion on how best to utilize the new Preset models within DLSS 4.5, but today's official release eliminates any confusion. If you set your "DLSS Override" option to the new "Recommended" setting, the Preset will dynamically change based on what in-game DLSS mode you select. For example, if you choose to play with DLSS Performance, it will pick the new Model M. Model L is best for Ultra Performance. Quality, Balanced, and DLAA settings will default to using Preset K (DLSS 4.0) in games. The best part is that if you swap between DLSS modes, the Preset will change automatically.
According to a new Nvidia blog post, those using GeForce RTX 20 and 30 Series GPUs may want to just stick to using Model K. There will be a greater performance hit on these 20 and 30 Series cards compared to the RTX 40 and 50 Series GPUs. Apparently DLSS 4.5 makes use of FP8, which those older cards do not natively support.
To coincide with the new DLSS 4.5 release, Nvidia updated their app today. Nvidia app 11.0.6 has some new features, new game support and more. A full rundown of today's new Nvidia updates can be found below.
At CES, we also announced that NVIDIA DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation is available now in over 250 games and apps, and coming to even more. That includes the upcoming RTX games we highlighted at CES: 007 First Light, Phantom Blade Zero, PRAGMATA, Resident Evil Requiem, Active Matter, Screamer, and DEFECT.

- LET IT DIE: INFERNO: SUPERTRICK GAMES and GungHo Online Entertainment’s LET IT DIE: INFERNO is a rogue-lite survival action game that takes the LET IT DIE series into a harrowing new era and unforeseen depths. An update launching later today adds DLSS Super Resolution to LET IT DIE: INFERNO, accelerating performance for GeForce RTX gamers. Additionally, NVIDIA app can further upgrade to DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution using its DLSS overrides.
- StarRupture: Creepy Jar’s StarRupture is an Early Access first-person open world base-building game. The game launched into Early Access last week, featuring day one support for DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Frame Generation. Via NVIDIA app, you can further enhance image quality with our new DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution 2nd generation transformer AI model, maximize fidelity with DLAA, and activate DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, accelerating frame rates.
Additionally, we’re launching our new NVIDIA app update today. In addition to DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, the NVIDIA app 11.0.6 update also includes a few new features:
- In System > Displays, all remaining NVIDIA Surround settings have been brought over from the NVIDIA Control Panel, adding options for bezel correction and hotkeys.
- Laptop users with Advanced Optimus can now see the full names of applications blocking the feature’s activation, rather than just the .exe names, helping identify problematic programs.
- In System > Advanced, “Debug Mode” instantly disables all overclocking and voltage tweaks applied via any application, helping you and customer care teams determine whether these are responsible for system instability, until the system restarts.
- There’s an advanced “Developer” option related to the use of profiling and debugging tools that gamers and general users can leave as-is.
