  • Celebrate 25 Years of The Sims with a 25 Hour Livestream Marathon

The marathon will include plenty of gameplay and giveaways.

Electronic Arts will celebrate 25 years of The Sims with a big 25-hour long livestream. The stream kicks off today, February 4 starting at 2PM PST. You can tune into either YouTube, Twitch, or TikTok to watch the stream.

This big marathon will feature plenty of gameplay in addition to various giveaways. Details on what those giveaways will give away wasn't yet revealed. You'll have to tune in to the marathon to find that out for yourself.

The marathon will also include various celebrity appearances. Celebrities scheduled to appear include singer Doja Cat, rapper Latto, and Drag Queen comedy duo Trixie Mattel & Katya. There will also be various "fan-favorite Sims storytellers, builders, and streamers" making appearances including Plumbella, Ironmouse, Angelo & Lexy, and more.

In addition to the stream and giveaways, EA says that they have a new update for The Sims 4 that adds in over 70 new in-game items. There is also a special Blast from the Past Event. The Sims 4 music will also expand a bit with new Simlish takes on some popular songs. There is "XXX" from Kim Petras on the Pop station, "Fable" from Gigi Perez on Alternative, and you can also "The Game Song" from Keke Palmer on the Retro station by participating the Blast from the Past Event.

Those playing The Sims FreePlay will also get special events and rewards. There will be 25 days of in-game gifts given out, some of which are "some of the most famous items from The Sims' history."

Other celebrations include a curated Spotify playlist of the most popular songs from The Sims franchise. There is also a new 25th Birthday line of merch available. This past week, re-releases of The Sims and The Sims 2 were both released on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Don't expect these to be remakes, but at least the games are now (mostly) playable on modern systems without too much hassle.

Since the original release of The Sims in 2000, the franchise has seen over 500 million players.

Not if the games have anything to say about it in their current state, they could just boot up Sims 4 i suppose.
