  • Stalker 2 Reportedly Profitable After Just One Month

GSC Game World's reclusive owner announced the good news to Forbes Ukraine.

GSC Game World announced that Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has started to turn a profit after being out just for a month. This announcement came from the largely quiet Maksym Krippa, owner of GSC Game World, in a new interview with Forbes Ukraine.

In the interview, Krippa did not state just how much money he invested into the development of Stalker 2. He says only that it was "tens of millions of dollars." It probably wouldn't be too shocking if the amount invested hit the $100 million mark given that Stalker 2 has been in and out of development for well over a decade. Still, despite the setbacks and delays, GSC Game World was able to get Stalker 2 released on November 20, 2024.

Since release, GSC has been busy working on updates and fixes for the game that came in a little hot despite the lengthy development window. Though a couple of patches have already been released for Stalker 2, more fixes are on the way.

Stalker 2 reportedly hit one million copies sold just two days after release. These sales figures were achieved despite the game also being available through Game Pass on both Xbox and PC. Stalker 2 also isn't available on PlayStation 5, and may never be released on Sony's platform.

Maksym Krippa tends to avoid most public appearances. Outside of owning GSC Game World, Krippa also owns esports organization Natus Vincere (NAVI). He also reportedly has a diploma from the Institute of Volcanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has been associated with online casinos, and founded several companies that focus on advertising, trading, and machine rentals.
