Josef Fares, founder of Hazelight, took to the stage at The Game Awards to unveil his newest upcoming action-adventure cooperative title. If you liked the award-winning It Takes Two or their previous title, A Way Out, then get ready for Split Fiction.
Split Fiction will put players into the shoes of contrasting writers Mio and Zoe as they work together through a mix of sci-fi and fantasy worlds. Each character is trying to work together "to take back their creative legacies" while discovering the power of an unexpected friendship.
“At Hazelight, we’ve been building co-op games for 10 years, and with every game we push beyond what players expect for action-adventure co-op games. I’m so proud of what we have built with Split Fiction . Let me tell you guys, it’s going to blow your mind,” said Josef Fares, Founder of Hazelight Studios. “Because Mio and Zoe jump back and forth between sci-fi and fantasy worlds, we’ve been able to do some really wild things with gameplay and storytelling. This is definitely our most epic co-op adventure yet.”
Once again, the Friend's Pass will return for Split Fiction. This means that if you own a copy of Split Fiction, you can send an invite to a friend and they can play with you for free. There will also be crossplay support, so that friends across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam will be able to play together. Split Fiction is also coming out on the Epic Games Store and EA app but they curiously don't include those two in the crossplay mention.
Split Fiction will be out on March 6, 2025 at a price of $49.99.
