Deepest Fear is an under the sea horror title current in development from Variable State. This is a first-person survival horror title that takes you deep below the surface of the ocean in a claustrophobic and decaying underwater facility. The game takes inspiration from the retrofuturistic horror films of the 80s such as Aliens, The Abyss, and The Thing to name a few.
As Dr. Danni Carroll, you will try to survive within Neptune, a "mysterious retro-futuristic facility hiding dark secrets and dangerous truths." Dr. Carroll will deal with hostile creatures that can spawn from water sources. With the Neptune falling apart around her, there will be plenty of opportunities for water to pour in to the facility. The fluid simulation will not only allow creatures to spawn but it will also submerge environments and alter the infrastructure of Neptune.
Incorporating the creative problem-solving of the Immersive Sim genre and Metroidvania-style exploration, DEEPEST FEAR™ pushes the horror genre forward with a chilling blend of atmosphere, environment puzzles, real-time fluid simulation, and high-stakes survival mechanics. Inspired by iconic works of cinema such as The Abyss and The Thing, the game is set to release on PC, with future announcements planned.
Featuring an original cinematic score by the BAFTA-winning composer and studio co-director, Lyndon Holland, and the award-winning writing talent behind Virginia and Last Stop, DEEPEST FEAR™ combines the cinematic storytelling the studio is known for with visceral first person shooter and horror gameplay.
