Nightdive Studios just stealth dropped The Thing Remastered a very short time ago this evening. This is a faithful restoration of the 2002 survival horror title. The Thing: Remastered is available right now digitally on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, GeForce Now, and PC via Steam and GOG. This release is also Steam Deck verified so you can play on the go for $29.99.
The Thing Remastered offers an experience of up to 4K resolution and up to 120 FPS on PC and the modern consoles. The usual improvements are made here: Textures, models, lighting, and animations.
This release also reportedly addresses some of the biggest issues fans had with the original release. Apparently Nightdive is fixing those scripted infections that resulted in NPC teammates turning even though their blood test came back clean. This release also adds in some additional content that was cut from the original.
In the frozen arctic tundra, a mysterious shape-shifting alien has wiped out the crew of the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility. In The Thing: Remastered, players step into the boots of Captain J.F. Blake, the leader of a United States Army Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the blood-curdling events that transpired in the original The Thing film. Trapped by the elements and at risk of infection by a horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don't get the best of them… or himself.
