The PlayStation VR2 isn't the only PlayStation related item on sale these days. As part of a big "Back to School Sale" Sony has temporarily dropped the price of both PlayStation 5 models.
The PlayStation 5 Slim Disc Edition dropped from $500 down to $450. The PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition dropped from $450 to $400. These prices are only for a limited time, until August 3rd. They are included as party of a "Back to School" sale because to hell with your studies, play God of War instead!
Like the deal with PlayStation VR2, it seems like the sale prices on the PlayStation 5 can be found at most major retailers. It is on sale through Amazon (see links above), Best Buy, Walmart, and probably more. Those were the only three places I checked out before hitting submit on this.
These "Slim" models are 30% smaller in volume and 18% lighter than the original PlayStation 5 models. It also sports four separate cover panel pieces compared to the two larger ones on the original models.
The sale on the Digital Edition in particular actually brings the price back down to its original price before Sony increased it to $450 in October 2023. At least the sale price on the Disc Edition is a good deal as that price has not waivered from $500 since launch.
