  • Fallout 4 Next-gen Update Launches April 25

All platforms are getting an update of some variety.

Bethesda Game Studios announced a next-gen update for Fallout 4 back in 2022. The expected release window was for some point in 2023. That window then slipped to a 2024 release as 2023 neared its end. We now know that this long-awaited next-gen update will drop on April 25.

Not only will there be a next-gen update released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, there will also be updates released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC versions. These older consoles obviously won't get the tech improvements, but they will get additional login and content fixes.

According to the latest announcement, Fallout 4 will get new Performance and Quality options on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Bethesda says that this will allow you to experience Fallout 4 at up to 60 FPS "and increased resolutions." Old-gen consoles will get an update that includes stability improvements and quest fixes. Updates for all of these platforms will be free (so long as you already own the game, of course).

The PC version of Fallout 4 will also be updated. Bethesda says that they are adding improved widescreen and ultra-widescreen support. There will also be fixes to Creation Kit and various quest fixes. Those with Fallout 4 on Steam, Microsoft Store, or GOG will get stability, mods, and bug fixes. Those playing with Japanese or Chinese languages on PC will be happy to hear that the Bethesda.net login issues will be fixed, granting access to supported mods.

For those that don't yet own Fallout 4 on PC but want to buy it and also don't want to purchase it from Steam, the Microsoft Store, or even GOG, then you might be happy to hear that it's coming to the Epic Games Store. Maybe there are some real diehard Epic Games Store fans out there. Who knows.

Still on the PC front, Bethesda says that Fallout 4 will be Steam Deck verified. Soon you will be able to help out settlements on the go.

All platforms will be updated with new, free Creation Club items.

The first major wave of reviews are in for Starfield and, well, they aren't bad. They're not super great either but they certainly aren't bad.

According to OpenCritic, Starfield currently sits at an average review score of 87% with 93% of all reviewers recommending the game. The scores for this one seem to range from as low as 50% to as high as 100% (or 10 out of 10 to be more specific).
