Blizzard has officially announced the name and general release window for Diablo 4's first full expansion. It's called Vessel of Hatred and it is slated to arrive in late 2024.

Details about this new expansion were not shared by Blizzard today. In fact, the only thing outside of the name and release window is the fact that the expansion will add a class that has never before been seen in the Diablo franchise.

All we were given was this brief teaser, as seen below.

We actually may have gotten more information from a recent Diablo 4 datamine than what Blizzard shared today during Blizzcon. Interestingly, the earlier datamined information said that the expansion would be called "Lord of Hatred" which is obviously a tiny bit different than the official name of Vessel of Hatred. The information did suggest that the expansion would focus on Mephisto and include the usual expansion content like new questlines, new gear, new endgame content, and more.

Included in that earlier datamine was a suggestion that a new class called "Spiritborn" would be added with the expansion. There was also going to be a new mercenary system added with this expansion that would allow for you to quest alongside NPC companions.

Naturally, as we can already see by the different name, some of these datamined details may be changed before the actual expansion is released next year.
