Jim Ryan, the president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), will step down from his position in March 2024. Ryan has been president and CEO at SIE since 2019.

Prior to leading SIE, Ryan began at Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe (SIEE) in 1994. He then worked his way up through the ranks and held a number of senior positions such as president of SIEE, head of global sales and marketing at SIE, and deputy president of SIE. In March 2024 when Ryan retires, he will have been a part of the PlayStation team in some capacity for about 30 years.

Current Sony Group Corporation president, COO, and CFO Hiroki Totoki will take over the role of chairman for SIE effective October 2023. On April 1, 2024, Totoki will be made interim CEO of SIE while also continuing his current roles. Totoki will work with Sony Group Corporation chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida and the management of SIE to find a permanent successor for the SIE CEO position.

“After 30 years, I have made the decision to retire from SIE in March 2024. I’ve relished the opportunity to have a job I love in a very special company, working with great people and incredible partners. But I’ve found it increasingly difficult to reconcile living in Europe and working in North America. I will leave having been privileged to work on products that have touched millions of lives across the world; PlayStation will always be part of my life, and I feel more optimistic than ever about the future of SIE. I want to thank Yoshida-san for placing so much trust in me and being an incredibly sensitive and supportive leader.” - Jim Ryan
