Emile Morel, the creative director on Beyond Good and Evil 2, passed away at the age of 40. IGN reports that they spotted a couple of tributes for Morel pop up on LinkedIn.

Former colleague M. Gabrielle Shrager, wrote that Morel was a "cherished colleague for over a decade" and that the two "laughed and wept through good times and bad, and shipped a lot of great games together." Shrager continues to say, "Emile was so very proud of Beyond Good and Evil 2, the Space Monkeys, and his teammates. He will be sorely missed."

Morel began working at Ubisoft back in 2009. He was involved in projects like Rayman Legends, serving as that game's senior game designer. He took over as Beyond Good and Evil 2's creative director after Jean-Marc Geffroy was removed from the project earlier this year. Prior to being the creative director on the project, Morel was Beyond Good and Evil 2's associate creative director.

Ubisoft issued no public statements yet about Morel's untimely passing.
