Is this lore friendly?
Caged Element and PLAION announced Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks today as part of the Warhammer Skulls Showcase. This is a free-to-play class-based multiplayer car combat racing game with Orks that is based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Not only was the game announced today but an alpha playtest of the game kicked off on Steam earlier. This alpha will feature a limited number of vehicles and levels, along with a single game mode. That mode is the "hard-hitting combat racing conquest mode, which ends in a glorious sprint to a finish line." This mode will find you attempting to capture points and fight one another for even bigger scores. Sounds like this mode is a team-based mode.
There are a variety of vehicle classes to choose from. There are damage focused vehicles, tanks, and support wagons.
The alpha seems to be very much that: An alpha. There are already some ideas that are being implemented in the next update to the alpha, including the ability to join public matches with friends. As it stands, you can only host private matches with friends in the current build.
Check out the announcement trailer below along with some of the game's key features. An exact release date for Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks has not yet been announced.
