High on Life is a newly released FPS from Squanch Games and Justin Roiland, the creator of Rick and Morty, Trover Saves the Universe, Hulu's Solar Opposites, and several other works. High on Life is out on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass for PC, consoles, and Cloud.
In High on Life, you play as an unmotivated high-school graduate who just happens to become the last hope for saving Earth from an alien invasion. The aliens, ever on the look out for "their next intoxicating experience" discover that "humans provide an exquisite high." As a result, you become a bounty hunter and try to track down the top echelon of the alien cartel to save humanity.
You will travel to different planets during your adventure, each with their own distinct looks and characters. Explore a dense jungle or a city built inside an asteroid, for example. Take on the local flora and fauna while also engaging with a bunch of aliens both good and bad. Oh, and your guns talk.
I am reviewing this game for Total Gaming Network. I would have probably had my review up by now but I did not see I received a review key (sent late last Friday) until Monday of this week. That said, so far High on Life is a pretty decent shooter, but your overall enjoyment of it will depend on how much you enjoy Roiland's style of humor and the degree in which you can tolerate weapons that talk to you a fair bit.
