Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is a 4v1 haunt or be haunted asymmetrical multiplayer game. This one is from IllFonic, the studio that brought you the equally asymmetrical Friday the 13th: The Game.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will be out on October 18, 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders for digital copies of the game have also started today.
A group of four Ghostbusters will be tracking down Ghosts that are haunting a number of different locations. You can use the P.K.E. Meter to track ghosts and even temporarily disable their movement. You can unveil hidden Ghost rifts and destroy them to prevent the Ghosts from moving around easily. The Particle Throwers will also be utilized in order to capture the Ghost. One you got them in your grasp, throw out a trap and wrangle them in to stop their haunting ways.
You can also choose to play as a Ghost. This solo side of the game has you roaming around stages like the Museum or Prison. You will frighten civilian, possess objects to increase the Global Haunt percentage to gain more powers, or just cause mass hysteria. Slime can be used to temporarily stun the Ghostbusters. Rifts can be used to travel around the areas quickly. You can even summon minions to distract the Ghostbusters to make a quick escape.
The game features party play, random matchmaking, cross-play, and even AI bots if you want to play solo online or offline. Gear can be equipped and customized at the Firehouse. Ghosts will be customizable in the spectral realm accessible by visiting Ray's Occult Books.
