The devs at IllFonic are working on another asymmetrical multiplayer game. This time, it will be a game of haunt or be haunted in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. This is the same development studio that previously brought you games like Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is aiming to be released in Q4 2022 via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Players will utilize a number of familiar gadgets as they team up to take out a variety of ghosts that are haunting a variety of public locations. A group of four Ghostbusters will be working together to find the ghost, tether him in place, and then trap him "before the environment gets too haunted."

Alternatively, you can play as the ghost. You will be able to fly and teleport between rifts. You can also possess objects in order to remain undetected by the Ghostbusters or scare those walking by. Ghosts can also slime the environment as well as summon "ghoulish minions." There will be different ghosts that have different abilities.

Players will be able to customize your Ghostbuster or ghost. You can also upgrade equipment and abilities. Ernie Hudson reprises his role as Winston Zeddemore, who will give you some mission intel before heading out. The press release also says that you will be able to "meet some new and old friends like Dan Aykroyd's Ray Stanz, ready to hand down some bustin wisdom at Ray's Occult Books."

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will feature cross-platform multiplayer support across all platforms. If you want, A.I. companions can fill any empty role, or you can play offline and go in solo as a Ghostbuster or a ghost.
