About 32 years after the initial release of 1990's Ghostbusters game for the Sega Genesis, the fourth member of the crew is finally being added to the game by some diehard fans.

Ghostbusters News reports that fourth Ghostbuster, Winston Zeddemore, was initially left out of being a playable character from the game. This is in spite of Zeddemore, played by Ernie Hudson, being in the first two Ghostbusters films and the animated series, The Real Ghostbusters, by the time the Genesis game was released. Thankfully, this is all about to change.

The game is being modified by Danilo Dias, BillyTime!Games, and Master Lunkeui. The trio shared the first look at the mod via Twitter. Their aim is to add Zeddemore to the game along with a variety of different suits and poses. This won't be a simple reskin of the existing characters of Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, or Egon Spengler.

There will also be a couple of different color palettes available. One will feature the original khaki uniform and the other will be the darker blue uniform from Ghostbusters II. Zeddemore will also apparently be a bit more powerful than the other three. He will be able to jump higher and do a bit more damage.

The mod is still very much in development. BillyTime!Games did share some gameplay footage of Zeddemore in action, which you can see here.

Besides not being included in the Genesis release of Ghostbusters, Zeddemore was often cut from movie posters, DVD cover art, and other marketing material. A reason for his omission was never publicly stated, but there are several theories as to why. Since Ghostbusters II, Hudson has returned to reprise his role of Winston Zeddemore in 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Hudson has also voiced and portrayed the character in three games: 2009's Ghostbusters: The Video Game (and 2019's remastered release), 2015's LEGO Dimensions, and the upcoming Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed.
