Volition promised, and so they delivered. Today, a special customization showcase for the upcoming Saints Row reboot took place. This showcase not only showed off character customizations but also some customizations for weapons and vehicles.

Saints Row creative director Brian Traficante detailed the customization aspects over on the PlayStation Blog in addition to there being a new video showing them off. We'll start with the vehicle and weapon customization before getting into the character customization stuff.

When it comes to vehicles, Saints Row will include over 80 different vehicles to add to the garage. These include boats, cars, trucks, bikes, helicopters, jet skis, and a hoverboard. You will be able to change the paint, add metallic finishes, add glossy finishes, add side skirts, and even underglows to the vehicles. You can also tint your windows, change the interior color, add grime, add decals, and modify the wheels in a number of ways. On top of all that, you can even change the "Signature Abilities" for the vehicles, including adding crab steering to "strafe" down the road, add in an ejector seat, or even make the vehicle become a wrecking ball somehow.

Players will be able to change a weapon's material, color, pattern, textures, and decals. Volition also says that you can change the entire weapon model itself if you want. Examples given include changing things like umbrellas or guitar cases into guns.

Once again, players will be able to visit stores across the city to purchase and put on all sorts of different clothing options and outfits. Characters will be able to have custom clothing, emotes, and weapons of choice. Volition says they have removed the boundaries of gender for players, meaning you can put on anything without any limits on any character type. You can make your character look silly, serious, or anything in between.

Individual team members can also be customized. There will again be layered clothing options, so you can have an outfit that includes underwear, a t-shirt, jacket, and accessorized with sneakers, hats, gloves, and socks. All clothing can be customized via color, surface properties, and even exotic materials.

Character hair color can be customized from the roots to the tips. Skin isn't just a color choice in Saints Row. You will be able to choose from a bunch of skin tones, of course, but you can also define the type, texture, and features such as scars, muscles, veins, tattoos, prosthetics, and piercings. Volition says they even included a "trucker tan" look.

Character faces can be customized, of course. However, this game allows you to change each side individually if you desire. You can also add make-up, scars, bruises, tattoos, facial hair, wrinkles, and more.

Saints Row is expected to be released on August 23, 2022 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic Games Store.

      Final thoughts and final score
It has been a few days now since I put up the initial "review in progress" for Agents of Mayhem. Chances are, you can just read that below these words as I do not plan to edit or alter that content in any way. Has my opinion on the game changed in that time? Slightly. Did the full public release of the game do anything to change some of the egregious shortcomings I encountered? This question is the one that I'm not sure I have a definitive answer to. M...

Saints Row Customization Showcase Scheduled for April
      by Shawn Zipay
      Will focus on customization. Obviously.

Volition has been rather quiet when it comes to all things Saints Row over these past several months. The last we heard about Saints Row was when it was back in November 2021 when it was delayed by several months from February 25 to August 23, 2022. Before that, we were at least given a lengthy gameplay reveal video.

That silence was broken today as Volition and Deep Silver announced a big customization showcase for Saints Row. This...
