Coming May 22 for consoles and PC.
Saints Row: The Third Remastered

Deep Silver just announced that Sperasoft have been working on remastering Saints Row: The Third for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This "complete remaster" will be released on May 22, 2020.

Just how complete is this remaster? According to the announcement, the team has remodelled every weapon, every car has been redesigned, and a "vast proportion of the city" has been retextured. In total, around 4,000 different assets have been remastered for this upcoming release. There is even a new and improved lighting engine that has been implemented into the game.

Saints Row: The Third Remastered will also ship with all three expansion packs. These are in addition to over 30 additional pieces of DLC from the original release. All of this content has also been remastered same as the base game. Volition says that they have nothing to do with this remaster as they are busy working on the new Saints Row title.

The new trailer for Saints Row: The Third Remastered really does a much better job at showing off the improvements. The price of admission to this remaster is a hefty $40 (USD). There is no upgrade path for those that may already own the game on PC. There's a good reason for that, which we will get to in just a moment.

As you may have assumed there IS a catch here. There is always a catch. The first catch is that the game will still run at just 30FPS on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The second catch is that this Remaster is an Epic Games Store exclusive (affiliate link) on PC. Yup. Tim Sweeney, in his infinite wisdom, paid money to make a remaster another exclusive to his monopoly. Just when you thought he this trash couldn't get any more pathetic. Expect to see a lot of this in the months ahead with rumored remasters of the Mafia titles and other Saints Row releases, including the new one being worked on at Volition. I would also include Dying Light 2 in with this, so don't be surprised when that's also announced as a timed exclusive.

Seriously, fuck this shitty practice.

The original release, which came out in 2011, can still be purchased and played without any issue on Steam... for just $9.99 (USD).

About Saints Row: The Third Remastered
Saints Row: The Third Remastered gives you control of the Saints at the height of their power, and you live the life to show for it. This is your City. These are your rules. Remastered with enhanced graphics, Steelport the original city of sin, has never looked so good as it drowns in sex, drugs and guns.

Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobblehead dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute.

Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to Steelport, a once-proud metropolis reduced to a struggling city of sin under Syndicate control. Take a tank skydiving, call in a satellite-targeted airstrike on a Mexican wrestling gang, and fight against a highly-trained military force by your lonesome in the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen.
