A collection of retro Sonic remasters will be coming in the form of Sonic Origins. The release date that is currently planned for this release is none other than June 23, 2022. That date also happens to be the same date that the first Sonic the Hedgehog was released back in 1991.

Sonic Origins is a collection of most of the 2D Sonic titles that were released for the Sega Genesis back in the day. This includes the first Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. This collection will be out on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC for $39.99 (USD). Pre-orders are set to go live tomorrow, April 21.

Those that pre-order will get a 100 Medallion bonus (no idea what this is), early Mirror Mode unlock, and a Letter Box visual option. There's a $44.99 (USD) Digital Deluxe Edition that adds in more difficult missions, letter box, characters in main menu, character animation in music playback, and some exclusive tracks from the Mega Drive Sonic games.

For those that prefer modern Sonic titles, Sega is still working on the open-world game called Sonic Frontiers.
