Far Cry 6 will not feature any ray tracing technology on any of the console releases of the game. This confirmation comes from TechRadar, whom had reached out to Ubisoft after a 3D team lead programmer told Wccftech that ray tracing was a PC-only feature. Not only is ray tracing a PC-only feature but AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) is also PC-only.

An Ubisoft representative told TechRadar that "on console, our objective has been to take advantage of new hardware capabilities, optimizing performance targeting 4K and achieving 60FPS." The best way that the team could possibly achieve these resolution and framerate targets is to ditch the very hardware intensive ray tracing features.

The next-gen releases of Far Cry 6 do still have some nice graphical boosts compared to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, of course. In addition to the 4K and 60FPS targets, the PS5 and Series X|S versions feature better textures, better levels of detail, and longer draw distances.

Far Cry 6 is expected to be released on October 7, 2021.
