Get ready for another next-gen EA Sports title being offered up for a next-gen price. This weekend, the Euro 2020 final matchup took place between England and Italy where Italy took home the W and England became super racist. But hey, what better place to unveil a new entry in an annual soccer franchise than one of the biggest European sporting events in the world?

EA Sports FIFA 22 will feature next-gen HyperMotion technology, only on the next-gen consoles and Stadia (get fucked PC, PS4, and XB1 players). It's slated to be released worldwide on October 1. Yes, that sick new tech will feature a sick, new price on next-gen consoles. That's right, FIFA 22 will be $69.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It will retail for $59.99 on those suck-ass platforms like the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Stadia is the real outlier here though, because while it will feature that next-gen tech, it will still retail for only $59.99. Isn't a lack of consistency grand?

So what will FIFA 22 offer that the previous entry did not include? Probably some updated stats, if I were to take a wild guess. It will also feature HyperMotion, where EA "combines Advance 11v11 Match Capture and proprietary machine learning technology to deliver the most realistic, fluid, and responsive football experience for next-gen consoles and Stadia, unlocking the raw emotion, passion, and physicality of the world's game." Why did EA capitalize those words in the quoted part in the previous sentence? I have no idea.

Why does Stadia get this next-gen stuff and not PC? Again, no idea. EA has done this twice already with their Madden titles, including this year's upcoming Madden NFL 22. Frankly, it's a fat load of bullshit.

But if none of this bothers you, you're more than welcome to pre-order the game for your platform of choice right here. Go ahead, order it. Consume. It's not like there's much in the way of competition. Your choices are limited. There does seem to be a new Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) game coming from Konami this year, but they've been pretty quiet about it. There is a rumor that PES 2022 will be free-to-play, so maybe there's hope yet.

Anyway, here's more from the press release for the game, including a bit more about HyperMotion that PC players cannot be trusted with.

HyperMotion technology enabled the integration of the first-ever motion capture of 22 professional footballers playing at high intensity. Additionally, EA’s proprietary machine learning algorithm learns from more than 8.7 million frames of advanced match capture, then writes new animations in real time to create organic football movement across a variety of interactions on the pitch. Whether it’s a shot, pass or cross, HyperMotion transforms how players move on and off the ball.

The new game also offers deep and innovative features across other parts of gameplay and our most popular modes including Career Mode, VOLTA FOOTBALL, Pro Clubs and FIFA Ultimate Teamâ„¢. Fans can expect more consistency and distinct personalities between the posts with a complete goalkeeper system rebuild, an all-new Create a Club experience in Career Mode, reimagined gameplay in VOLTA FOOTBALL, and the introduction of FIFA Ultimate Team Heroes, completely new items that represent the stories and glory of cult players and fan favorites. More news on FIFA 22 innovation will follow throughout the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain striker and global football icon Kylian Mbappé graces the cover for the second year in a row, making him one of few to earn back-to-back cover star status, alongside others like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

With 17,000+ players across 700+ teams in more than 90 stadiums and over 30 leagues, FIFA 22 is the only place you can play in iconic competitions such as UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, brand new UEFA Europa Conference League, Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga Santander, CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana.
