2K made some big moves today in the world of golf games. First up is the announcement that 2K have signed an exclusive, long-term partnership with golf legend Tiger Woods. In addition to this, 2K also announced that they have reached an agreement to acquire HB Studios Multimedia Ltd., the developers behind the well-received PGA Tour 2K21 and The Golf Club games prior to that.

Tiger Woods should need no introduction, but youngsters out there may not know about how great Woods used to be on the golf course. His career includes 15 major championship wins, 82 PGA Tour wins, he was an 11-time PGA Tour Player of the Year, was tied with the most career wins in PGA Tour history, and held the lowest career scoring average. Woods is often called one of the greatest golfers of all time and was considered one of the best athletes in the world.

In January, prior to a devastating car crash, Woods issued a statement about his new partnership with 2K.

“I am looking forward to making my return to the video game landscape, and with 2K and HB Studios, I’ve found the right partners to make it happen,” said Tiger Woods in January. “I’m honored to take part in this opportunity and look forward to sharing my expertise and insights as we build the future of golf video games together.”
The partnership between Woods and 2K includes the rights to use his name and likeness in the PGA Tour 2K franchise along with any other golf games that 2K might publish in the future. Woods will allegedly serve as an Executive Director and consultant on the PGA Tour 2K series. 2K is also partnering with Woods' TGR Foundation, which "provides award-winning STEM curricula and college-access programs to offer underserved students the tools needed to thrive in school and beyond."
