The third major update for Microsoft Flight Simulator was just released today and with it comes some major changes to the terrains of the United Kingdom.

Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann goes into detail about some of the changes that have been made to the look and feel of Great Britain and Ireland. As always, this update is free to existing owners of the game through either the Microsoft 10 Store or Steam.

This update features new HD 3D photogrammetry for cities such as Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, London, and Oxford. Also included are five new airports: Barra, Liverpool, Land's End, Manchester-Barton, and Out Skerries. This free update also includes various "architectural elements throughout the region." These include various British manors and Victorian homes scattered throughout the countryside. There are also stone structures, castles, and churches now.

Of course there are a lot of additional landmarks and points of interest. Check out a new trailer for the update below. Don't forget that you can now experience Microsoft Flight Simulator in VR!

In addition, over 70 custom landmarks and points of interest bring stunning new levels of detail and fidelity to some of the world’s most famous landmarks and bridges, regal palaces, breathtaking cathedrals … and, of course, football stadiums.

Also included with the update are a trio of new activities: an Iconic Flight in the Northern Isles and two diverse Landing Challenges – an epic one up north on the Shetland archipelago, and a fierce one far south in the turbulent skies over Southeast England.
