Deep Rock Galactic

Come May 13, 2020, the 1.0 release of Deep Rock Galactic will be released. This date and release milestone signifies that the game will be leaving Early Access on that date. Deep Rock Galactic has been a part of Steam Early Access now since February 2018. Before even that, there was a closed alpha for the game that dates back to late 2016.

Deep Rock Galactic has seen a significant number of updates since its initial launch. The development team a number of major updates to the game. Some of these updates have introduced new areas, new gear, a deeper progression system, new armor, new upgrades, new enemies, additional difficulties, and much more. According to their "living roadmap" (of which you can see the current one below), they have released 29 updates while in Steam Early Access.

With their 1.0 release, the team at Ghost Ship Games will focus on polish, bug fixes, new promotion ranks, new rewards, an expanded soundtrack, and a Deluxe Edition that will have some as of yet unannounced extras for those that are interested.

Better still is the fact that the team has decided not to increase the price of the game for the 1.0 release. Their current price of $29.99 (USD) is seen by the team as "a good entry point" that also "makes it easy to get new players to try out the game." There will, however, be a couple of new cosmetic-only DLCs that come out alongside the 1.0 release. These are called MegaCorp and Dark Future. They will be a part of the aforementioned Deluxe Edition, but will be sold separately and at a discount if you already own the base game.

Today's 1.0 announcement is available through Steam. Fans can check it out to see what else Ghost Ship Games has planned for the release. After 1.0, the studio says that they will continue to support and expand the game. They are already thinking about major updates that will have a "focus on new content for the game." A new and updated roadmap will be coming a few weeks after launch.
