Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition SonicFox

Dominique "SonicFox" McLean won the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition finals held on March 8. The competition was a joint venture between WBIE, NetherRealm Studios, and Intersports. The finals were held in Chicago at the Park West theater. SonicFox, playing as The Joker, went up against CGL NinjaKilla_212 in the Grand Finals. SonicFox bested CGL NinjaKilla_212 to take home the Final Kombat 2020 trophy and the $40,000 first place prize.

The announcer was busy closing out the tournament for those watching at home when SonicFox quickly grabbed the microphone. SonicFox was decked out once again in their iconic fursuit head and wore a transgender pride flag on their back when they quickly told the audience to "vote Bernie," before heading off the stage. Though a live audience was not in attendance due to coronavirus fears, the event was streamed live through the NetherRealm Twitch channel.

SonicFox is certainly no stranger to voicing their opinion at every opportunity. Their acceptance speech for winning the Esports Athlete of the Year during 2018's Game Awards should have made this quite evident. The entire video on demand (VOD) from the Final Kombat matches can be found on Twitch.

Besides combining the worlds of politics and video games, the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition included some special reveals for fans. These reveals include the first ever gameplay reveal for Spawn. Keith David, the voice of Spawn in Mortal Kombat 11, provided a brief introduction ahead of the new gameplay video.

Spawn will be added to the roster of Mortal Kombat 11 by way of the Kombat Pack on March 17. A wider release for those who don't own the Kombat Pack will happen on March 24. Those with the Kombat Pack will also get the new Hellspawn skin for Jacqui Briggs. Kombat Pack owners will also get the Matinee Skin Pack that includes the Osh Tekk Vandal skin for Kotal Kahn, the Swashbuckler skin for Erron Black, and the Space Marine skin for Jacqui Briggs.

In addition to all of this Spawn and Bernie love, the tournament was also the first time that the McFarlane Toys Spawn Mortal Kombat action figure was shown off. This figure is, obviously, based off of the design being used in Mortal Kombat 11.

Next up was a new Red Band trailer for Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge. This is a new animated film set in the Mortal Kombat universe. It is slated to be released on April 14, 2020. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge will be released digitally on that date and as a physical release on Blu-ray come April 28, 2020. It is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and is the first project created by this team after the acquisition from Midway Games in 2009. It is also the first animated project since 1996's Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm.

Some of the cast includes Joel McHale as the voice of Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya, Steve Blum as Sub-Zero, Robin Atkin Downes as Kano, and Patrick Seitz as Scorpion. Ed Boon confirmed on Twitter that the film will have an R rating, making Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge the first film in the franchise to receive an R rating.

The final piece of content revealed during this past weekend's event was a new and exclusive clip for the second season of the Harley Quinn animated series. I am assuming the following clip is clip that was shown off. This is only an assumption because a link was not actually provided in the press release and this is the newest upload on the DC YouTube channel.
