The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope was teased a bit more today thanks to a new trailer. This not-quite-a-direct-sequel follow-up to The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is currently slated to be released at some point during the Summer of 2020.
Those who played through Man of Medan actually got a sneak peak at this next chapter after finishing the game. This co-op focused horror series is developed by Supermassive Games, the studio that brought us the stellar Until Dawn on the PlayStation 4. Pete Samuels, the CEO of Supermassive Games, says that the studio has "been delighted by the reaction from players and the success of Man of Medan as the first installment of The Dark Pictures Anthology." He continues on to suggest that the community feedback has played a role in some of the gameplay changes coming with Little Hope.
In The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, players will take control of four college students and their professor that are stuck in the abandoned town of Little Hope. A dense fog hides a number of nightmarish visions that are forever pursuing the group.
The Dark Pictures Anthology games are not technically one cohesive story. They are instead a series of standalone, branching, cinematic horror games. They each have their own self-contained stories, which themselves are often pulled from real-world legends, myths, and facts. The choices you make in these games do have consequences. It is entirely possible to have everyone survive to the end, but it's also very possible that those characters can also die based on your bad decisions.
Just as with the first game, Man of Medan, Little Hope will include a couple of shared experience modes. The first is the "Shared Story" mode that will allow you and a friend to play through the story together online. This is the basic "co-op" mode. Additionally, there is the "Movie Night" mode that is perfect for some couch co-op. Up to five players will get to pass around the controller, each one assuming control over one of the main playable characters.
