Released to shift focus away from ugly Carbuncle?
Final Fantasy VII Remake opening cinematic

The opening movie for Final Fantasy VII Remake was officially released today. This news may sound a bit familiar to some of you who caught the early leak at the tail end of 2019. It was at that point that some people got their hands on the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo and released the opening video on their personal channels.

As expected, most of those videos were pulled from YouTube or given the ol copyright claim of doom. It makes sense then when you realize that the videos were sourced from a demo that still hasn't even been released let alone announced yet. That's right, two months later and that leaked demo still hasn't been announced yet. Ah well, there's still plenty of time to go before the full game is released on April 10, 2020.

If you missed the leaked version of the opening video, you have another chance now. This time, the video should stick around for a long while since it comes direct to you from Square Enix. Today's video wasn't the only piece of Final Fantasy VII Remake media released this week. Yesterday saw the release of a bunch of great looking new screenshots and some renders of a really ugly Carbuncle and Chocobo Chick.

The footage showcases the gorgeous visuals of the eclectic city of Midgar, backed by newly orchestrated, breath-taking music. In FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, players will be drawn into a world where Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation, controls the planet’s very life force. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche.
