Deck13 released a new combat-focused gameplay trailer today for their upcoming action-RPG, The Surge 2. This new trailer will show how you will have to utilize a variety of combat techniques in order to survive in Jericho City. The trailer gives us a glimpse of some of the 80 different weapons in the game, the directional parry system, dodge mechanics, drone usage, and some of the execution moves.

The Surge 2 is up for pre-order now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. All pre-orders give players access to the URBN Gear Pack that includes a new armor set, two weapons, and various cosmetics. The game will be released on September 24.

If you haven't yet played the original, there is a free period for it that ends tomorrow, August 29. The Surge will be on sale for up to 75% off until August 30.

    About The Surge 2
After the success of The Surge, the hardcore Action RPG released in May 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 are happy to announce the renewal of their partnership and the development of The Surge 2, with a release date planned for September 24, 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original – hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system and deep character progression – while also expanding greatly upon the formula. The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck13’s upgraded and improved engine. Combat is more brutal and tactical than ever, with even more options thanks to an expanded limb targeting system. In addition, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones give players a vast arsenal to build their character with, in their fight against the array of diverse new enemies and bosses.

The Surge 2 will release on September 24, 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

      Review: The Surge 2 (PC)
      by Shawn Zipay
Better than the original in almost every way.

A weird thing happens when you have just a weekend to play a game and write a review for said game. I literally got my code Friday morning but could not begin until late Friday night. Sometimes that game ends up being longer than you anticipated. Sometimes that time that you could spend playing the game is spent instead with a weird thing called "life." And while "life" does have a tremendous framerate, it doesn't help...

Some of those changes come in the way of new content. There are "a lot of new items" in addition to both entirely new cutscenes as well as improvements to multiple old cutscenes. This...

The Surge is Not Dark Souls and That's Okay (Review)
      by Shawn Zipay

      Reborn from the Fallen
There is a very interesting thing happening with reviews for Deck13's new action-RPG The Surge. It's something I saw before and something I myself am guilty of, especially when it comes to Deck13's previous release, Lords of the Fallen. That "interesting thing" I have noticed is a move to compare each and every aspect of The Surge to the Dark Souls games. That alone is fine but the thing I cannot stand is the fact that some are actually upset, even borderline...
