Runs at the same time as the World War 3 free weekend.
Insurgency: Sandstorm

It's going to be a big battle of the combat games this weekend. Both World War 3 and Insurgency: Sandstorm have a free weekend that runs from June 20 to June 24. We already told you about the World War 3 free weekend, so now it's Insurgency's turn.

This free weekend for Insurgency: Sandstorm is being held just days after new content drops for the game. This new content is actually out today and includes new weapons, a remake of a classic Insurgency map, and a new arcade mode called "Frenzy." The map being remade is Ministry and the new Frenzy mode is "zombie-inspired."

Free weekends typically include a sale off of the game for those that want to keep playing after the weekend is over. I don't see anything that says this is the case here, but that may change once the free weekend actually begins. Speaking of which, you will be able to download and play this weekend by downloading the game from Steam once the free weekend begins.

Today's update includes:

  • New weapons and attachments:
    • QBZ-03 Chinese assault rifle and TAR-21 MARS-style red dot optic for Insurgents
    • VHS-2 Croatian assault rifle and MRO “Micro Red Dot” optic for Security
  • Ministry - new indoor-focused map (remake of the Insurgency classic)
