Insurgency: Sandstorm is a tactical shooter that has made some decently sized waves in the PC world. In its first year of availability, Insurgency: Sandstorm has amassed one million players, won a fair number of awards, seems to be generally liked by its fanbase. Developer New World Interactive and publisher Focus Home Interactive hope that success will translate well to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when it releases on August 25.
The game offers players a "realistic depiction of modern warfare featuring fierce close-quarters combat, objective-oriented gameplay, and a variety of intense cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes." It's not like ARMA levels of realism, but it does lean far more towards the simulation side of the spectrum when stacked up against something like Counter-Strike.
