You can test it right now if you'd like.
Yakuza Kiwami 2

Sega just updated their beta branch for the PC release of Yakuza Kiwami 2. This patch will go live to the public if everything goes well. If you'd like to get a jump start on this update, you can do so right now.

To test this patch out for yourself, simply right click on Yakuza Kiwami 2 in your library, click on "Properties," go to the "Betas" tab, and select the "communitytestbranch" branch from the dropdown menu. In the password field, type in "KiwamiMeansExtreme" (without the quotes) and it should start the update.

But why would you want to test out this update? For starters, this patch includes an option to disable depth of field, something that a lot of fans have been begging for since the game's release. I believe some people have noticed that the depth of field was tied in some way to resolution, making it a very unpleasant experience for a number of people out there. Not only that, but you can now lock down your FPS to various settings such as 30, 60, 120, or simply have it be uncapped. This is beneficial for those who are experiencing some physics related bugs due to having too high of a framerate.

There are some other nice changes and improvements, which you can see in the changelog here or below.

  • Added an option to lock FPS in Graphics Settings. (Options are 30, 60, 120 and Uncapped.)
  • Added an option to enable/disable Depth of Field in Graphics Settings.
  • Added more options to Anti-Aliasing in Graphic Settings.
  • Added a control to fast skip dialogues with Right Bumper + A button / R1 + X button/ SPACE + E keys.
Bug fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where save data descriptions can disappear.
  • Fixed an issue where incorrect prompt can be displayed during combat using a keyboard and mouse.
  • Fixed an issue where pressing Alt + Tab keys didn't pause the game in Cabaret Club.
  • Fixed a button/key prompt mismatch issue in Batting Center.
  • Fixed minor mouse control issues in several minigames.
  • Fixed minor UI bugs.
