PSN name changes
Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Network name changes are coming that will allow users to change their online handles. The confirmation comes roughly a week after renewed rumors started swirling that this feature was indeed coming soon.

The ability to change your PSN name will first be tested by those that are in the PlayStation Preview Program and some of those that have pre-registered as testers for previous PS4 software beta tests.

The big question you all have is probably, "how much will this cost?" Well, the first name change will be free. After that, each name change will cost you $10 (USD). PlayStation Network subscribers get a discount, costing them just $5 per name change. Sony says that during the preview users will be allowed to change their name as many times as they want. It's anybody's guess right now if this lack of a limit will carry over to the public release.
When you change your online ID, you will have the option to display your previous ID with your new ID, so your friends can recognize you. Once you decide to display your old ID or not, you won’t be able to adjust this after completing the online ID change process.

This feature is compatible with PS4 games originally published after April 1, 2018, and a large majority of the most-played PS4 games that were released before this date. However, please note not all games and applications for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita systems are guaranteed to support the online ID change, and users may occasionally encounter issues or errors in certain games. If for any reason you experience issues after changing your ID, you can revert back to your original ID for free at any time (you will only be able to revert once during the preview program).

For games published before April 1, 2018, Sony will provide a list of compatible games on the PlayStation website. The preview program is expected to run until the end of November 2018. It will be rolled out to the public in early 2019.
