Name Changes Coming Soon to PlayStation Network?

A new report from Kotaku says that Sony is gearing up to finally allow users to change their PlayStation Network names. This has been something that PSN users have requested for ages but it allegedly hasn't been possible.

It's long been rumored that name changes haven't been possible because Sony's database was so jumbled and held together with gum and strings that it made it near impossible to allow for name changes. Well, it seems as though Sony has gotten around to fixing that and perhaps even included some of the needed groundwork in the recent 6.0 firmware update. Now, some developers are saying that name changes are coming ...

  • Yakuza 6 Demo Pulled from PSN After Players Found They Could Play the Full Game for Free

SEGA pulled a recently released demo for Yakuza 6: The Song of Life from the PlayStation Network after it was discovered that the full game could be downloaded and played for free. Some users discovered this little "bonus" when playing through the demo, which released earlier today. The download contained the entire game and seems to have only really impacted the download from the North American PlayStation Store. However, it seems as though the demo was pulled, at least temporarily, from all regions while it's sorted out. The original intent was to have the free download allow players to enjoy the opening parts of the game and then unloc...

    Review: Windjammers (PS4)

What's Old is New Again, But Still Kind of Old.

Windjammers is a blast from the past, for both better and for worse. The game excels at being a fast-paced game that relies partly on reflexes, partly on skill, and partly on actual strategy. The colorful 16-bit graphics look just as great now as they did back in 1994 when the game first came out for the Neo Geo. In fact, I would argue that right now is the perfect time for this Windjammers revival given how many new games are out there that ape the visual style without actually being retro. The game even features a lovely 4:3 aspect ratio mode for purists while also offering a 16:9 mode that stretches the view out. If you stick to the 4:3 ratio, the remaining space on your television is filled with art work for the two competing players. There...

  • PlayStation 4 Owners Spend 26 Billion Minutes a Week Gaming and Other Fun Facts with Shawn Layden

We have some more PlayStation focused numbers for you today. Sony revealed that PlayStation Network users spend 26 billion minutes per week playing games. This works out to a bit shy of 50,000 years. When you take that figure and average it out over the 60+ million PlayStation 4 owners, that's about seven hours per week per user. Sony also revealed today that one-in-every five PlayStation consoles purchased is a PlayStation 4 Pro. The company also revealed that PlayStation VR has now sold more than one million units around the world, a figure largely kept low by production struggles. PlayStation VR has been sold out since launch, according to Sony. ...

Two-Step Verification is Finally Here for PlayStation Network

Breathe a sigh of relief tonight because two-factor authentication (or 2-Step Verification as it's called here) has finally come to the PlayStation Network in North America.

It is strongly advised that you enable this security measure as soon as possible to protect your account. This is especially important now as there seems to be a rise in the number of PSN accounts being publicly reported as having been stolen.

To enable "2-Step Verification" through your PlayStation 4:
Settings > PlayStation Network/Account Management > Account Information > Security > 2-Step Verification This is also available through the ...

PSN Secheduled Maintenance on May 24

If you cannot access features of the PlayStation Network on May 24 starting at 9:30PM (PT), don't panic. Sony will have the service down for a bit for some routine maintenance.

The service is expected to return around 11:30PM (PT), or roughly two hours after the maintenance begins. The Service Status page for PSN says that users will be unable to access account management, the PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Video. You should be able to play games and most applications without issue during that time....
