Alright, let's see what's going on with this, because I'm not sure how to feel about it just yet.
The feature film, tentatively titled MEGA MAN, will be written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, and is scheduled to be distributed by 20th Century Fox. Chernin Entertainment, responsible for the Planet of the Apes series, will be producing it with Masi Oka, of Heroes fame. Based on the influential and globally beloved Mega Man franchise, Capcom aims to appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well, with an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for.
Well, that could be interesting? Capcom did make a successful series of movies based off of Resident Evil, so anything is possible. Also, shoutout to Amazon for the image of the Mega Man costume.
Also, don't forget that Mega Man 11 came out literally two days ago now. It seems like people like it, so maybe now isn't a terrible time for there to be a movie.
Cautiously pessimistic. Eddie Lebron produced a fan film on a massively tiny budget (casting choices really show how limited his resources were), and while I enjoy parts of it for gaming fans, I don't see any appeal for a diverse audience.
Even with a high budget, I don't see how everybody would like it. Would it basically be an iRobot ripoff? I liked the fan film, but even that isn't enough for me to want to go to theatres. And this? Hard to work with. It's like producing a Tetris or Battleship mov... Oh wait.
Anyway, watch this fan film by Eddie Lebron and see what you think? It's the same person behind the Sonic Spec Film. It was released in 2010, and doesn't seem to age very well (has some plot holes too).
