Forza Motorsport 7 is going to require a copious amount of free hard drive space when it launches later this year. While the PC system requirements did not seem to be too crazy, there was a noticeable omission of the HDD space requirements. The mystery remains no more because the game's store page was updated with that omission and boy is it a doozy.

Both PC and Xbox One owners will need to have 100GB of free space for the game.

This size was first noted by MSPoweruser. Microsoft has apparently since removed that bit from their store listing because it is no longer showing up as of the time of this article. With any luck, this is still something that may not be set in stone.

By comparison, a fully updated Forza Horizon 3 uses about 54GB on the PC. The base game of Gears of War 4 will all patches seems to only take up about 103GB. If this requirement holds true, this will make Forza Motorsport 7 the largest launch title of the bunch. Good luck to those with space limitations once the patches and added content start to hit.

Why the large file size? It more than likely has to do with Microsoft's big push for 4K. The problem here is that while 4K assets are great for those who are picking up the Xbox One X or playing on the PC, it makes no sense to also include these massive assets in the Xbox One version or those running at resolutions closer to 1080p.
