The latest report from Variety says that a reboot of the Resident Evil movie franchise is apparently coming. Not only is it getting rebooted, but they're talking about making it a six-movie reboot.

The report from Variety says that Constantin Film board chairman, Martin Moszkowicz, confirmed at Cannes Film Festival that they're working on a series reboot. This studio produced all of the previous Resident Evil films and still owns the rights to the franchise.

The studio really isn't saying much else at the time. It's very possible that the writer of the original six films (and director on four of them), Paul W.S. Anderson, won't return as he is working on Monster Hunter. This could also mean that Milla Jovovich is also out for the reboot since they're married and frequently choose to work together.

The last film in the series, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, came out in January of this year. The films have pulled in $1.2 billion to date, so it may not be much of a surprise that they want to keep that money train rolling.
