Capcom officially announced Resident Evil 3 remake today. It's just called Resident Evil 3, just as the Resident Evil 2 remake was just Resident Evil 2. Confusing for us older gamers? Yeah, just a bit.
The revival of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will be released on April 3, 2020. It will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. For those of you who never played the original back when it launched on the original PlayStation in 1999, I'll just say that you're in for a treat here.
Much like Resident Evil 2, Capcom has taken the core of the original Resident Evil 3 and reimagined parts of it to expand upon the game. It's once again been built within Capcom's stellar looking RE Engine. Resident Evil 3 takes place both before, during, and after the events of Resident Evil 2. Those who played through Resident Evil 2 will undoubtedly see a lot of cross-over in certain story beats while playing through Resident Evil 3.
Of course, who could ever forget about the Nemesis. Though you had an ever chasing foe in Resident Evil 2 (something that really wasn't a thing in the original release of RE2 during first playthroughs), Nemesis takes it up a few notches. He doesn't care about walls. He doesn't care about dying. He just wants to eliminate all members of S.T.A.R.S..
North American console owners will be able to pick up a Collector's Edition for Resident Evil 3. This includes a physical copy of Resident Evil 3, a Jill Valentine figure, printed artbook, a Raccoon City wall poster map, and a digital soundtrack. All pre-orders will also get the Classic Costume Pack that features the original design for Jill Valentine and hairstyle for Carlos Oliveira.

It seems a bit surprising that Capcom has decided to bundle Resident Evil Resistance in with Resident Evil 3. I don't know if that was the plan from the beginning or if, perhaps, Capcom doesn't have much faith that Resistance would sell many copies on its own.
Complementing the action-packed single player campaign is Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetrical 4 vs. 1 multiplayer game originally unveiled as a working title at Tokyo Game Show earlier this year. As the Mastermind behind the scenes, players can assume the role of key Resident Evil characters like Annette Birkin in a series of deadly experiments. Manipulate the environment and wield a deck of cards to place vicious creatures, set traps and weaponized security cameras to snare hapless Survivors. A first for the franchise, Masterminds can even directly control elite bioweapons like G-Birkin and Tyrant. In turn, four Survivors must effectively work together, making the most of a variety of weapons and each player’s unique special abilities, to stand a chance of escaping the experiment before time runs out.
