Because you can just add the Tom Clancy name to anything these days, Ubisoft has announced a new Tom Clancy game for iOS and Android devices. Tom Clancy's ShadowBreak is the first mobile focused title in the Tom Clancy line from Ubisoft. ShadowBreak is a real-time multiplayer sniper game that was developed by Ubisoft Halifax.
True to the series’ DNA, Tom Clancy’s ShadowBreak imagines a near-future scenario where disparate criminal and radical factions, known as Shadow Nations, pose a new threat to global stability. Seizing the territory of sovereign countries through a coordinated series of attacks, these Shadow Nations have taken entire populations hostage overnight. To combat this sudden threat, elite marksmen trained in unorthodox warfare and counter-insurgency are granted command of a squad of disavowed military specialists, an initiative now known as ShadowBreak.

Players assume the role of elite snipers commanding a squad in real-time PvP combat, deploy their troops and provide overwatch to assault the opponent’s bases. Smart target selection, troop synergy and tactical execution make the difference between victory and defeat.

Players will have access to a "vast array of unique weapons, gear, and troops" to use in their loadouts. Ubisoft says that Tom Clancy's ShadowBreak will be out later this year. There is apparently an open beta available for the game in Canada and only for iOS devices (for now).

Plus, try it free for one month.

Back at E3, Ubisoft announced that they would soon launch their own subscription service. This service that they're calling Uplay+ would function much like EA's Access and Origin Access programs in that you will be able to pay a monthly fee to gain access to an ever growing library of old and new titles from the publisher. Really, the only major differences that I can see here is the fact that Uplay+ may not include a discount on game purchases like...

      It's very effective.

Earlier in the year, we learned that Tencent was teaming up with Ubisoft to create a new subsidiary studio. This new studio, this new Ubisoft, would focus on popular Ubisoft IPs such as Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. The new subsidiary was valued at about €4 billion, which includes the roughly 25% investment (€1.16 billion) from Tencent.

Though work is still ongoing to get the studio opened by the end of the year, we...

The 18+ Adults Only rating was allegedly a mistake.

This past weekend, Ubisoft held their latest Ubisoft Forward stream. During the stream, the company showed off some new updates and upcoming titles like Just Dance, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Skull and Bones, Riders' Republic, various bits about The Division, Mythic Quest Season 3, various mobile games, and more. We will have a separate post about those titles, and more, going up shortly.
