For January 2016, the NPD found that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 outsold the competition on the software side of things. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4 once again was the best selling hardware platform. This is all despite the fact that overall hardware and software sales were down compared to January 2015.

Compared to 2015, hardware sales were down 15%, retail game sales were down 10%, and game sales in general were down 4%.
