Jay Basu is reportedly the person Sony Pictures has hired to write the script for the Metal Gear Solid film. He joins up with Producers Avi and Ari Arad, and Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
Who is Jay Basu? What has he done in the past? Well...
He has writing credits for Monsters: Dark Continent, The Dinosaur Project, Fast Girls, and Song of Songs. The highest rated out of all of those? Why it is none other than Fast Girls with a 6.2/10 at IMDB.
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go find a corner to cry in.

But no, instead we get this piece of news. Well ****... I know I can't judge until the movie comes out... But... Well ****...
Edit: Ideally I would prefer Hive Division to be given a large investment for them to do a mainstream theatrical movie, but I do understand reality, and there's far too many skeptics to allow this to happen over a company as huge and reputable as Sony Pictures. Also for the record, the writer and director would NOT reprise his role as Snake if he had money. He was actually against the idea, but there really was nobody available to take the role, look the part, and understand Snake's character to portray the part. He would GLADLY hire a better professional actor for that role. Still, I think Giacomo Talamini looked awesome as Snake, but I begrudgingly agree that he would be wrong for mainstream film.
