These past few months, the harassment campaign known as GamerGate has been steadily attracting the attention of mainstream media outlets. It's long since ballooned past the point where only gaming focused outlets had something to say about them. We've seen attention brought against them on television shows like The Colbert Report and media outlets like The New York Times, CNN, and even Al Jazeera.

It has finally reached the point that even Law & Order: SVU (Special Victims Unit) will base an upcoming episode on the harassment that GamerGate sends to people on a daily basis. The episode is slated to air on February 11, 2015 at 9PM (ET) on NBC. The episode is called "Intimidation Game" and the premise might sound a bit familiar for anybody keeping up with what's been going on since last year.
THE VIRTUAL WORLD BECOMES REALITY WHEN A VIDEO GAME CONVENTION TURNS INTO A CRIME SCENE

Video game developer Raina Punjabi (guest star Mouzam Makkar) solidifies the launch of her first game amid a stream of online insults, intimidation and death threats from the male-dominated gaming community. When a female employee is assaulted at a gamer convention, Detective Tutuola (Ice-T) investigates the crime but Raina refuses to delay the launch, and the cops must "level up" to protect her. Also starring Mariska Hargitay (Sgt. Olivia Benson), Kelli Giddish (Det. Amanda Rollins) and Peter Scanavino (Det. Dominick Carisi Jr.). Guest starring Peter Mark Kendall (Steven Kaplan), Susannah Flood (Sarah Keller) and Griffin Matthews (Leslie Connolly).

Yeah, some of those lines ("level up") do sound a bit corny, but the overall premise should be familiar. Undoubtedly, GamerGate will declare this a "victory" for their movement and are probably already preparing to flood comment sections with "none of this is true, we don't do this, and watch this video for the 'facts' on GG" once the episode airs. No matter what, I think we can all agree that this episode is probably going to be a train wreck.
