  • Horror RPG Vampyr Revealed by Dontnod

Dontnod, the team behind Remember Me revealed another new game earlier today. It's a "horror RPG" called Vampyr.

Details about the game scarce. However, it was revealed that the game will take place right after World War I. Players will assume the role of a doctor that returns home as the Spanish Flu is starting to spread. He's naturally bitten by one of his patients that then transforms him into a vampire.

The "y" in the title relates to some of the gameplay decisions the player will have to make while playing. He's a doctor that is sworn to heal but on the other hand, he needs to kill and feed to survive. And before you think of it, I'll preempt you with the "Dr. Acula" reference here.

No other information about the game was revealed. Dontnod is readying the release of their next title, Life is Strange, at the moment.

Critical Consensus: Alone in the Dark
      by Shawn Zipay
Fails to live up to others in the genre this franchise helped to create.

The Alone in the Dark reboot was just released today and it seems like the reviews have placed it firmly in the realm of being merely ok but with some serious shortcomings. This release from Pieces Interactive and THQ Nordic currently sits at a 62% critical average on OpenCritic, with only 42% of reviewers recommending this new release.

Interestingly, the actual scores for this game range everywhere...

      Interview with a vampire.
Please do not adjust your monitors or television sets. I did not misspell "Vampire" for the title. The game is actually entitled Vampyr and it is a legitimate spelling of the name given to the undead blood suckers we have all come to know and sometimes even love. Vampyr, the game, is a new entry in the sometimes too saturated action-RPG genre. And while it does indeed share a lot of similarities with other games in the genre like Bloodborne, , and even...
