This was first teased by a Twitter post from Anita Sarkeesian in which she posted a picture of her sitting behind the desk of the Colbert Report.
Supporters of GamerGate have somehow already fooled themselves into thinking this is a good thing, that Anita is only there because she's a "professional victim." They are also apparently under the belief that just because they haven't been able to answer factual responses to anything that everyone else must be just as stupid.
It will certainly be quite interesting to see what happens tonight and how much spin the GamerGate supporters will put on whatever is said.

Edit: Overall I understand GamerGate. Zips already made two detailed summaries, with the second clarifying the first with new information. I just meant I don't understand their justifications on any of their actions (meaning in their head, they're doing something that promotes positive change and development and I want to know why, much like the protestor who called Chatterbox).
I've seen their fluff. I've had enough of them link me to it time and time again. This one at least had the courtesy to give me the thinly veiled option on if I wanted them to link me instead of just shoving it down my throat again.

The points they made? Largely bullshit and already disproven by the link listed above. The #NotYourShield hashtag? At the end they mention how they can't possibly be misogynists just because they donated money towards a charity? That argument falls apart when they donated out of spite and hate. They only donated towards TFYC because TFYC lied about how they were attacked and DDoSed by Zoe Quinn. TFYC even admitted, after their lie, that they had lied about being DDoSed by Quinn. It was essentially the Reddit/slashdot effect that happened to them after she Tweeted about them and their terrible server couldn't handle the influx of visitors: https://imgur.com/a/KEtcp?gallery
Gamergate was and continues to be centered around a campaign of hate, misogyny, threats, and lies. They're more akin to a cult (read the bullet points to note the parallels) or fascists (bullet points again) than a group that is aligned anywhere near what they claim to be about.
