  • Pirated Copies of The Sims 4 Turns the Game into Minecraft

If you pirate The Sims 4, get ready to have your entire game look like a blocky mess.

According to Playerattack, if you pirate the latest entry in the Sims franchise, the entire game area becomes pixelated. It essentially takes the pixel blur that the game applies to your Sims when they use the bathroom or take a shower and applies it to the entire viewing area.

In fact, what this does is it starts off uncensored until your Sim uses the bathroom. That pixelated view then expands until it covers the entire screen. Even better are the people that are reporting the issue on the official Sims 4 forums.

It actually looks like an interesting visual style, sort of a Minecraft type of effect.

That's pretty cool, i like when developers put anti piracy measures in like this, i have no idea how they know when someone is pirating it's really clever.

Completely agree with cikame. I'm okay with creative anti-piracy measures that don't punish legitimate customers, but rather use hidden gameplay mechanics to inconvenience them, yet give them a decent taste of the game. Those on the fence might buy it, and those who weren't going to buy it, aren't responsible for inspiring punishing DRM.

This reminds me of Game Dev Tycoon's piracy anti-piracy feature, Batman: Arkham Asylum's "drop like a rock" feature, Serious Sam 3's invincible giant pink scorpion following you to the ends of the Earth just to beat the crap out of you...feature. Good stuff.
