  • Blizzard Offering Free Copies of Mists of Pandaria to Entice Players to Return to World of Warcraft

Apparently, Blizzard is trying to pull some old players back to World of Warcraft by giving them a free copy of the latest expansion for the game, Mists of Pandaria. I just received this in my own email about 30 minutes ago now.

I verified it was legit by manually going to my Blizzard account and seeing that, sure enough, Mists of Pandaria was listed next to my game. All I have to do is re-subscribe to the MMO that I haven't played in three years.

If you need more proof, others have run into the same sort of deal these past few days and it has been verified by a Blizzard support member on the Battle.net forums.
Until this promotion, the people counseling you may have been compromised were absolutely correct. That would have been my first thought as well.

There is a recent promotion, certain licenses were upgraded - and you should have received an email at your registered address.

Really nothing I can add to this, if your license was selected - Gratz!

This does go a bit hand in hand with what Blizzard has done in the past. Typically, Blizzard would retroactively give players access to the previous expansion after a new expansion came out. This "free copy" of Mists of Pandaria is just jumping the gun a bit for what would inevitably be a freebie that would be given to all subscribers at a later date. With Warlords of Draenor just around the corner, Blizzard probably hopes that this move will entice gamers to return to their old vices and pick up the new expansion when it comes out on November 13.

    I'm still on the fence.

The thing I like most about a new expansion is the zones to quest through. Once I've done all the quests though, I get bored. Dungeons and raiding have lost their interest for me due to the fact you have to play with other people who suck at the game.

I feel the same about the raids and dungeons. But my main issue is that now that I work more I cannot make time for these things. That is the only reason I stopped playing.
