  • Wolfenstein: The New Order "Requires" an i7 CPU and 50GB of Hard Drive Space

Earlier today, Bethesda released the "PC system requirements" for Wolfenstein: The New Order. Their labeling conventions are a bit askew, however, as while it does say "PC system requirements," these specs are more akin to the recommended specs.
The system requirements are based on the game being a next-gen experience running at 60fps. These are the system requirements to deliver the PC game as it was intended to be experienced.

    PC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
    • 64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
    • Intel Core i7 or equivalent AMD
    • 4 GB System RAM
    • 50 GB free HDD space
    • GeForce 460, ATI Radeon HD 6850
    • High Speed Internet Connection
    • Steam account and activation required

So, if you want a solid 60fps experience with all the bells and whistles, you better make sure you have an i7 CPU apparently.

They also mentioned some of the requirements for the console versions of the game, including a four disc Xbox 360 version.
    PlayStation 4
Hard Drive Requirements: 8 GB HDD minimum and ~47 GB for total install
    Voice Commands optional

    Xbox One
Hard Drive requirements: 8 GB minimum and ~47 GB total install
Kinect support for Voice Commands (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish only)

    Xbox 360
Hard Drive requirements: 8 GB minimum
Game includes 4 discs, including the first disc that is a mandatory installation disc.

    PlayStation 3
Hard Drive requirements for disc play: 8 GB HDD space
Hard Drive requirements for PSN download: 17 GB HDD space

Grr, i don't like this sudden leap in requirements for PC, especially for a game that doesn't seem to be doing too many things at once, not like Watch Dogs.

Those specs seem really odd. An i7, but only 4gb of ram and only a 460 gpu?

      • Intel Core i7 or equivalent AMD.

are there any AMD cpu's that can even match an i7? (no im not being facetious, I'm just not up on the latest AMD tech.)

Im sure there are by now.

I have a first gen i7 and when I built my machine back then it had a 440 gpu. My machine is almost 5 years old now.

I dont see why an i5 wouldnt work though. Its just less cores if we are talking first gen. Maybe some less cache.
