John Smedley, the President of Sony Online Entertainment, revealed that a new zombie apocalypse game is in the works from the studio. The reveal came from an upcoming interview with Game Talk Live (via Polygon) that will go up at 8PM (ET) tonight. In addition, Smedley revealed via Twitter that the game will be playable "soon."
"H1Z1 is an MMO that allows players to take on the role of an apocalypse survivor who is in a world that is filled with zombies. A world! Not just a little tiny server."

Todd Roy from Game Talk Live noted that the game had a "scary" vibe to it. Smedley addressed that and said there's a good reason for it.
"That's the point. When you see a zombie coming up to you with nothing out but a highway flare. But here is something your gonna be able to do that you can't do in these other games: Light things on fire. We are in the middle of putting that in so you are gonna be able to burn down trees, burn down stuff, and that's gonna be a lot of fun. The idea is that these players building these forts and all of the sudden these other guys coming in lighting it on fire and waiting till they come out of the fortress is awesome."

He also noted that there will be a day and night cycle. He noted that the nights will be really dark so a torch may be necessary though it will attract zombies and other players to your location. They will also have land vehicles and may also include some aircraft.

Their goal is to create a "massive world that is this apocalypse of the Untied States."

Right now, the H1Z1 page features an eerie background and some #2spooky4me music.
