  • Flappy Bird Being Pulled from Google Play Tomorrow

    Dong Nguyen, the developer of the surprise hit Flappy Bird says he will be pulling the game from Google Play tomorrow. He made the announcement roughly 9 hours ago on Twitter saying it would be down within 22 hours. That means you have just 13 hours left at the time of this posting to grab the game.


    He does say that he has no plans to sell the game to interested parties. He also went on to say that he does still plan to make more games in the future. If it's not actually related to legal issues, it could just be a matter of being stressed out from upset, vocal players.

    He did mention in a reply Tweet that he feels the copycat versions of Flappy Bird (and wow, there are a lot of those cash-in clones) are "overusing (the game)."

        This guy's making 50K a day in ad revenue... my ass he's pulling that game off every app store.

          I dont get into app games too much so what was the legal issues?

          Just to be jerky, I did ask someone on Twitter, who posted a score pick, what Mario game he was playing

                Some people wrongly assumed he had directly ripped art assets from Mario. They assumed he was getting legal pressure from Nintendo to remove it. If what he says is true, that wasn't the case at all. Again, it's more than likely the pressure and immaturity of asshats simply got to him.
